Columbus, OH – Giving Thanks for Thanksgiving High Street Food Drive
Submitted by Tonika Robinson, Administrative Assistant
An act of kindness did not go unnoticed as the recipients of the Giving—Thanks for Thanksgiving cheered and praised when receiving their Thanksgiving dinner baskets. The Columbus, OH (South High Street location) had a two week employee food drive with the goal to raise enough food to feed the families of 5 outpatient mental health clients. This project was organized by Margaret Ables and Tonika Robinson and the 36 employees of the South High Street location who all pulled together and donated an outstanding 300+ food items and almost $300 in such a short time span. Not only did they raise enough food to meet their goal of feeding five families, they gave 8 families 20 pound turkeys, gift cards for perishable items and enough canned good to last through Christmas! The recipients were nominated by the Treatment Coordinators and Counselors and most of these families ranged from 5-14 persons per family. As the first annual “Giving— Thanks for Thanksgiving” employee food drive wrapped up, donations were nothing short of a success.
Tonika would like to thank her gracious NYAP family for supporting this initiative to help those in need during the holidays. “Pay It Forward” was our motto for this act of kindness and we went above and beyond to show it! Pictured below is some of the food collected for the food drive.
