Akron, OH – Child Safety Summit has positive impact sponsored by Ohio Attorney General

NYAP staff were privileged to participate in the third Child Safety Summit sponsored by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. This Summit was held in Belmont County, Ohio on February 24th, 2012. The Summit continues the Attorney General’s focus on protecting children by examining what is occurring in Ohio with adoption, foster care and the issue of family reunification.

NYAP was honored to be represented on the panel by Sharon Marconi who was able to discuss the contributions of foster care providers to the child welfare system. Ed Sparks and Meredith Kober were also present at the roundtable and Meredith discussed the positive impact of the Workforce Development Program on youth aging out of care.

The Summit involved an active discussion of stakeholders committed to ensuring the safety of the child as the most important consideration in family reunification. Summits will continue throughout Ohio and NYAP hopes to remain a part of this important initiative for improving the child welfare system.
