NYAP – Newark, OH – Recruitment Event: Open House
The Newark office held two events, one at Heritage Middle School on August 9th and the other at the Newark High School on Aug. 17th 2011. The turnout was great. The topics were Outpatient Mental Health and Bullying Knowledge Awareness. Over 400 kids and parents stopped by the NYAP booth and many inquiries were made. On hand were Cassandra Oliver, Rob Johnson, Kelly Vacca and Megan Yaraschuk. Some of the conversations were with past clients. At least four of these mentioned the fact that they want to return to NYAP. They also spoke with the Big Brother/Big Sister foundation
who said they, as well as the Help Me Grow program from the Ohio Department of Health, have many kids that they will refer to NYAP.
The Newark group made relations with Family Health Services (1) who agreed to refer clients to NYAP and allow our brochures in their lobby waiting area. Excitement was in the air over NYAP’s counseling services which caught the eye of many teachers and associates from Mental Health America, Salvation Army, United Way, and Girl Scouts. Megan Yaraschuk said she heard one mother say to another “These people are great!” as they passed out promotional items, brochures, and spoke to everyone who stopped by their booth. Ross Maverick in Marketing supplied the Newark staff a custom made four panel table-top presentation display unit, a custom made matching Tri-Fold Brochure (both co-designed by Cassandra Oliver) and NYAP branded promotional items.
Overall, this event was a major success and the Newark staff already has plans in place for the next event to be announced soon.
